Mercy Hospital's Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is a 12-bed unit that provides cardiac critical care and cares for open heart surgery patients. The CVICU has great teamwork and is known for its inclusion, integrity, empathy and caregiver longevity. This unit also has low readmission rates, low falls and high patient satisfaction ratings, participates in community activities, and is starting a mentor program. As a PCNA on this team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients. In this role, you have an excellent opportunity to start your nursing career and work in a supportive and caring healthcare setting. **A caregiver in this position works rotating shifts from 6:30 a.m. -- 3:00 p.m. OR 2:30 p.m. -- 11:00 p.m. with every other weekend and holiday requirements.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter. + Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN. + Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + A high school diploma or GED + Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) + Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered + Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
