The Cardiology Intensive Care Unit is a 10-bed unit in the Pavilion for Advanced Care. The nursing team works in collaboration with many disciplines and partners to provide exceptional care to our patients. Diagnoses range from cardiogenic shock to lethal cardiac arrhythmias, acute myocardial infarction, advanced heart failure, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension, acute coronary syndrome, and more. We manage critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and therapy via central venous, arterial, and pulmonary artery catheters, mechanical ventilation, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy, targeted temperature management, ventricular assist devices (VADs and Impe llas), and the wide spectrum of vasoactive medications. We also provide care for patients pre and post cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology procedures, and other minimally invasive cardiac procedures. Apply now! Summary:
The Patient Care Associate works with and under the direct supervision of a registered nurse with whom s/he is regularly teamed to deliver optimal patient care through the use of the nursing process.
Responsibilities:
+ Assists with and performs procedures under nurse supervision in accordance with Presbyterian Medical Center policies.
+ Supports patient care planning and evaluation in collaboration with RNs.
+ Accurately collects, records, and documents patient data and care, including vital signs, intake/output, and observations.
+ Maintains patient confidentiality and respects privacy and rights.
+ Ensures patient safety, proper use of restraints, and adherence to fall and infection control protocols.
+ Assists in patient transport, transfers, discharges, and handling of personal belongings.
+ Maintains cleanliness and safety in all care areas.
+ Uses supplies and resources cost-effectively and completes assignments on time.
+ Demonstrates competency in age-appropriate and individualized care.
+ Participates in quality improvement and performance initiatives.
+ Communicates effectively with patients, families, staff, and interdisciplinary teams.
+ Supports patient satisfaction through professional, courteous interactions and orientations.
+ Accepts delegation, works cooperatively with team, and provides feedback to improve workflow.
+ Seeks opportunities for learning and attends all required training and certifications.
Credentials:
+ Basic Cardiac Life Support (AHA) (Required)
+ Certified Nurse Aid (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
+ H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
+ CNA certification or nursing student who has successfully completed a clinical rotation in their nursing program and possesses a minimum 3.0 GPA
