We accept referrals for Orthopaedic Surgery, Soft Tissue Surgery, Neurology and, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Cardiology, Anaesthesia, Dermatology, Diagnostic Imaging, Oncology and Physiotherapy. We have comprehensive and established clinical and non-clinical programmes for training, development and CPD. You can find us in Hampshire, just south of Winchester, close to the M3 and national and international transport links. We are in a serene countryside setting with state-of-the-art facilities and are available to look after pets 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our mission is to create an inspiring, inclusive, professional environment where the team are empowered to work together to consistently deliver exceptional care and service. **Role and Responsibilities:** To lead and support the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) team in delivering high-quality patient care. This role combines hands-on clinical support with team management, training, and coordination of non-clinical duties to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. The role also involves working closely with other department managers to promote a collaborative and integrated approach to patient care and practice efficiency. **Clinical Duties:** Oversee and support PCAs in their daily clinical tasks: + Assist with patient handling and restraint. + Ensuring that all handling and restraint is carried out in a ‘patient friendly’ approach to ensure no unnecessary stress or discomfort to the patient. + Involvement with handling medications and preparing these for dispensing. + Prepare and maintain patient accommodation considering the condition and welfare of the patient, environmental enrichment and additional supporting aids as necessary. + In-patient care to include exercising, feeding, and grooming of hospitalized patients. + Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and clinical standards. + Monitor and maintain clinical areas, ensuring they are clean, stocked, and well-organised. + Assisting with diagnostic imaging to include maintenance and preparation of equipment and patient preparation and positioning. + Assist the Veterinary Surgeons, Registered and Student Veterinary Nurses, Reception staff and any other team member who requires support, where and when required. **Non Clinical duties:** + Line manage the PCA team, including rotas, performance reviews, and development plans. + Provide mentorship, training, and ongoing support to PCAs to promote skill development and confidence. + Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture. + Conduct regular team meetings and communicate updates effectively. + Ensure all PCA activities comply with practice policies, RCVS standards, and health & safety regulations. + Participate in audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. + Attend and contribute to practice meetings and events. + Work closely with other team leads and leaders to ensure a joined-up approach to patient care and operational planning. + Participate in cross-departmental meetings and contribute to practice-wide initiatives. **Role Specification:** **Essential:** + Previous experience in a team lead role. + Strong leadership and communication skills. + Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks. + Compassionate and patient-focused approach. + Training and mentorship experience + Be eligible to work in the UK **Desirable:** + Experience working as a Veterinary Care Assistant or in a similar clinical/Veterinary support role. **What we offer:** + 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays and Birthday Leave + Career progression opportunities + Staff discount schemes + Enhanced sickness pay + Enhanced equal family leave + E-car salary sacrifice scheme + Employer contribution pension scheme + Wellness program including: + Employee assistance program + Eyecare voucher scheme + Free annual Flu jab + Cycle to work scheme + Recruitment referral reward scheme.
