We want you to apply! **Job Summary and Qualifications** The **Patient Advocate** will facilitate resolution for patients' complaints and grievances. Then will convey questions, complaints, problems, and concerns of patients to proper personnel. Communicates any possible risk management issue/ serious quality issue to hospital administration and alerts administration of any escalation of issue with patient/ family. Facilitate communication regarding hospital procedures, and policies to patients. · You will investigate grievances through review of medical record, discussion with department manager, and physicians, then prepares response letters to patients for administrative signature · Follows current CMS and Joint Commission requirements for formal grievance process · Collects data and classifies grievances per HCAHPS categories. Prepares annual and quarterly grievance reports for senior leadership and the Board of Directors · Provide emotional comfort/spiritual support to patients and families. · Provide assistance in explaining advance directives (healthcare power of attorney/ living will). Provide paperwork for Virginia Durable Power of Attorney as needed. Available as notary for execution of Virginia Durable Power of Attorney and other legal documents as needed for patients/families and staff. · Available to stay after normal hours to provide support or assistance to families in crisis situations (frequent) **What qualifications you will need:** · BA/BS or equivalent experience · Excellent oral and written communication skills. · Must have excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor. · Proficient with PC and Microsoft office software. · Preferred previous experience with customer /service and problem resolution. *Possess the ability to multitask in an environment with ongoing project deadlines Established in 1974, Henrico Doctors' Hospital is a 340-bed community hospital offering cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, oncology, physical therapy, women's services and a 24/7 emergency department.
