Patient Access Specialist
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Access Specialist to join our team in New Haven, Connecticut. In this contract position, you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient patient registration, scheduling, and check-in/check-out processes while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. This role requires adaptability in a fast-paced environment, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with patients and healthcare staff. Responsibilities: • Facilitate patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring timely and accurate registration. • Collect and update patient demographic and insurance information to maintain accurate records. • Schedule patient appointments efficiently, collaborating with clinical teams to align schedules with patient needs. • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and accommodating special needs such as language barriers or disabilities. • Verify insurance eligibility and ensure compliance with managed care requirements and healthcare regulations. • Document and maintain patient account information in accordance with organizational protocols. • Monitor scheduling waitlists and proactively fill vacant appointment slots to optimize clinic operations. • Ensure patient safety through accurate identification procedures and adherence to Red Flag protocols. • Support call center operations by triaging patient calls and assisting with scheduling and registration tasks. • Stay informed about insurance changes and healthcare legislation to provide accurate and updated information to patients. Requirements • Proven experience in a customer service or patient-facing role, preferably in a healthcare setting. • Strong communication skills with the ability to handle inquiries and resolve issues professionally. • Proficiency in scheduling and registration systems, with attention to detail and accuracy. • Familiarity with insurance verification processes and healthcare regulations. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks. • Knowledge of confidentiality protocols and handling sensitive information. • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable. • Adept at using online tools and systems for scheduling, insurance verification, and patient account management.
