Description We are looking for a dedicated Patient Access Specialist to join our team in Nashua, New Hampshire. In this Contract-to-permanent role, you will play a critical part in ensuring smooth admissions and registration processes for hospital patients while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards. This position requires strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills to deliver exceptional service to patients and their families.
Responsibilities:
• Register patients accurately by assigning medical record numbers, performing compliance checks, and collecting necessary insurance and physician order details.
• Provide clear instructions and compassionate customer service during all patient interactions, adhering to organizational policies and standards.
• Meet assigned point-of-service goals, including the collection of patient financial responsibilities and past-due balances.
• Conduct pre-registration tasks, which may involve inbound and outbound calls to gather demographic, insurance, and payment information.
• Explain and obtain signatures for consent forms and distribute necessary patient education materials, ensuring proper documentation.
• Verify insurance eligibility and input benefit details to facilitate billing processes and maintain a high clean claim rate.
• Screen medical necessity for Medicare patients using specialized tools and provide required forms to inform them of potential non-payment scenarios.
• Utilize quality auditing systems to review and correct account information, ensuring compliance with audit standards and reporting accuracy.
• Perform audits of accounts across teams and departments, providing statistical data to support leadership in improving processes. Requirements • Proven experience in customer service, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with collections processes, including point-of-service payments and past-due balances.
• Proficiency in data entry with a high degree of accuracy.
• Previous administrative experience, ideally in a hospital or similar environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately.
• Knowledge of insurance verification and billing processes.
• Ability to work independently while adhering to organizational policies and goals.
• Comfortable navigating quality auditing systems and reporting tools.
