**PATHOLOGIST SUPERVISOR**
**BOISE, IDAHO**
**SUMMARY:**
Manages, coordinates, and supervises the pathology department. Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the performance of the technical and support section staff in the assigned unit. Ensure patient samples are appropriately prepared for review and diagnostic evaluation by the Pathologists. Ensures that the Section runs smoothly, that turnaround time meets or exceeds established guidelines, and that all quality and safety requirements are consistently met.
**REQUIREMENTS:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Medical Technology or Health Science in a healthcare-related field with a master’s degree in Pathologists’ Assistant required
+ Minimum of six (6) years in a clinical laboratory and pathology in a hospital setting, at least 2 years in supervisory experience required
+ Membership in the American Association of Pathologists' Assistants, required.
+ Must have experience in human relations, communications, and management skills required.
+ Some Histology, Cytology & and Pathology Assistant experience preferred.
+ Experience with a laboratory computer system with anatomic pathology and/or histology/cytology modules preferred.
**WHAT YOU WILL DO:**
+ Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable).
+ Ensures that department or shift personnel provide accurate and timely testing results following laboratory standards.
+ Hires, trains, orients, and promotes teamwork and mentors department staff.
+ Ensure that QC testing and proficiency testing are performed, recorded, and evaluated according to established guidelines and that out-of-control results are resolved in a timely manner. Develops and/or maintains a quality assurance program that meets all the requirements of applicable accrediting agencies.
+ General understanding of the process of shipping samples to reference laboratories, filling out requisitions, packaging samples to meet IATA and DOT guidelines.
+ Using Epic program to gather necessary information on individual patients for pathologists to present at tumor boards for treatment purposes.
+ Help with creating policies, procedures, or workflow processes.
+ Preparing Pap specimens for our cytology team to process.
+ Preparing surgical and cytology specimens for pathology assistants and cytotechnologists to gross.
+ Registration of mail in lab/non-patient drop-off requisitions/samples.
+ Help with Cytology/Histology/Admin staff/Pathologist with items as things arise.
+ Checking the basement for supplies, able to lift 20 lbs. Assist with ordering and stocking supplies as needed.
+ Maintenance on Thin Prep and TomCat processors.
+ Filling out maintenance logs, handling of waste from stainer fluids, body fluids, etc.
+ Assists with special projects and interdepartmental needs when appropriate.
