Department Profile

Wealth Management Client Segments is a division within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management that includes the Field organization, Workplace, Institutional, and Direct clients, as well as Marketing and Analytics. The goal of the Client Segments business is to ensure that MSWM meets clients on their advice journey, supporting their growth, and deepening relationships over time.The Path to Advice team sits within the Client Solutions Group, an organization focused on driving new asset and client growth across our Advisor, Workplace and Direct segments. The Path to Advice team oversees the strategy and execution of that client journey, supporting clients as they move from those segments to the advice channel.

 Role Profile

In this role, you will shape the strategy of several initiatives the Path to Advice team is standing up, including the creation of dashboards, pertinent reporting and data models to support strategic planning and operations of our Advisor, Workplace, and Direct client segments.This individual will join a team with a proven record of executing on the Firm’s strategy to deepen client relationships across multiple channels. Team members contribute directly to Firm flows, providing Financial Advisors with lead opportunities that generate Net New Asset growth.As a Vice President on the team, you will facilitate strategic discussions with internal stakeholders, ensure alignment on key decisions with partners across the Firm, translate these initiatives into technical requirements and execute with speed and precision.This role will require someone who is able to balance big picture thinking with operational expertise – someone capable of standing up new initiatives and scaling them quickly to bring in Net New Assets.

Key Responsibilities

As a Vice President on the team, you will help build a Business Intelligence center of excellence that drives analytical insights across multiple functions that are driving the firm's growth strategy. You will help the team stand up new initiatives and derive insights that help generate Net New Asset growth. This role will include collaboration with teams across business units and geographic regions to drive strategic projects and operational improvements. The role will be Field-facing, requiring the candidate to work closely with Financial Advisors on performance metrics and integrate their feedbackAs a leader on the team, you will be expected to provide data-driven insights, while in parallel coaching other team members on how to perform analysis and craft recommendationsIn this role, you will be expected to manage Path to Advice’s reporting infrastructure by owning the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of all of Path to Advice’s data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Dataiku)Analyze large data sets to identify trends, patterns and opportunities for business growth and present pertinent insights and recommendations to stakeholders in concise and effective presentationsContribute to the continuous improvement of analytical processes and performance benchmarking optimize the operations of our lead distribution process. You will also shape the narrative of the Firm’s Path to Advice strategy, providing direction and analytical support for external work the team is preparingPartner with core partner businesses across the end-to-end customer journey, include Analytics & Data, Marketing, Morgan Stanley at Work, Strategic Client Management, and Emerging Wealth SolutionsWork across multiple lines of business and operation departments to improve opportunities sent to Financial AdvisorsSupport test & learn campaigns, including analyzing high-level performance data, and identifying optimization opportunitiesParticipate in discussions with senior management and support delivery of conclusions derived from projects to advise on real-time issues as well as longer-term strategic efforts 

Experience

Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g. Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics); MBA a plus7+ years in top-tier management consulting, technology or financial services firmExperience in financial services preferred, Wealth Management expertise a plus

Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; robust financial modeling skills a plusExcellent interpersonal skills, including collaborative work style and leadership presence; demonstrated ability to influence others and earn trust of peers and senior management across an organizationProject management skills, including ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and comfort with changing or tight deadlinesStrong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to break down complex ideas into clear, concise concepts; experience in developing C-level presentations a plusDetail and results-oriented individualStrong team player, and high energy, and motivated by fast-paced environmentProficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Proficiency in SQL, Python, and at least one BI visualization tool (SQL, VBA, Dataiku, Tableau)Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills; ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersAbility to work in collaborative, transparent style with cross-functional stakeholders across the organization to lead and deliver business results

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $185,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
