Job Title: Party Chief IJob Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Party Chief I to join our survey crew. This role involves performing technical survey work with increasing complexity and overseeing the work of a field crew. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of survey processes, equipment, and be able to manage a team efficiently.
Responsibilities
+ Direct and mentor Survey Technicians to ensure efficient workflow.
+ Ensure the survey truck is stocked with necessary supplies and tools, and is properly maintained.
+ Make accuracy and calibration checks and adjustments on equipment used for survey work.
+ Operate survey equipment for complex and precise survey tasks.
+ Lead all phases of work for the field crew, ensuring quality and accuracy.
+ Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and specifications for survey projects.
+ Perform necessary survey calculations and establish project controls.
+ Compile accurate field notes, records, and sketches of work performed.
+ Work collaboratively with project stakeholders to establish survey requirements.
+ Communicate effectively with crew members and Senior Party Chief to report project status.
+ Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
+ Review or check the work product of others for accuracy.
+ Understand and comply with written and oral instructions in English.
+ Complete forms and report information in standard formats.
+ Ability to pass a background test and willingness to travel as needed.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of three to five years of experience in survey or related fields.
+ Thorough knowledge of construction, boundary, and topographic surveys.
+ Proficient with survey equipment and data collection.
+ Ability to adapt to new equipment and technologies.
+ High school diploma or GED required.
+ Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate degree or technical courses in mathematics or surveying preferred.
+ NSPS/ACSM Certified Survey Technician – at least Level 2.
+ Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Carlson is a plus.
+ Prior Party Chief experience is advantageous.
Work Environment
You will work in our Tempe office, with responsibilities that include traveling across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces at construction sites. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing between 20-50 pounds over long distances, use a 16-pound sledgehammer, walk distances up to a half-mile at a time, and remain standing for extended periods. You will work both outdoors in all weather conditions and indoors on hard surfaces. This position is in an employee-owned firm, offering a collaborative and supportive work culture.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
