Part-Time Lecturer in German Language

New York University (NYU) Berlin is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach a seminar entitled "Elementary German I" in the Fall 2025 semester.
This four-credit seminar is designed for beginners with no previous knowledge of the German language. Using our own teaching and learning materials, along with a highly interactive approach, students will learn to handle various everyday situations and acquire the fundamentals of German grammar. We will practice all language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) and place special emphasis on accompanying co-curricular events. These events aim to deepen and broaden understanding of the German language while boosting motivation.
Candidates should be passionate about teaching, have a broad academic outlook and the ability to cater to the individual needs of the students.
The course is taught in English and German and runs from August 29 to December 12 in the Fall. The course meets in the mornings twice a week (Tuesday & Thursday) on NYU Berlin’s campus.

Qualification
Ideal candidates should be dedicated, open-minded, and motivated teachers, and we welcome newly qualified professionals. You should be flexible in your teaching approach and interested in close collaboration with students and other instructors to design a cohesive program for students. Close supervision of individual students and the willingness to offer paid office hours outside of regular class time should also be feasible.
Additional Qualifications:
+ Successful completion of a Master’s Degree in German studies
+ A completed degree in German as a foreign language is desirable or t eaching experience in German as a Foreign Language at the university level
+ Fluency in German and proficient English
+ German work-permit and tax number at the time of application, covering the entire period of employment
