Part-Time Faculty Lecturer

The Department of Epidemiology is seeking an individual at the Faculty Lecturer level to teach the course EPIDEM 2144 Agent-based Epidemiological Modeling of Social Determinants of Health, a 2-credit course in Fall 2025. The Lecturer will work on preparing the syllabus, teaching content, and teaching the course in Fall 2025.

This position is a part-time, temporary position outside the tenure stream.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Ph.D., Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology or Ph.D. in Computer Science Engineering with at least ten years of experience as an applied epidemiologist in the public or private sector.

- Research experience in agent-based models (ABMs) as agent-based models (ABMs) as a technique for understanding how the dynamics of social, biological, and other complex systems arise from the characteristics and behaviors of the agents making up these systems.

- Some past experience using the “FRED” (Framework for Reconstructing Epidemiological Dynamics) software platform developed at Pitt Public Health. Examples will emphasize the applications of FRED in public health, including infectious disease transmission and control measures, and health behaviors such as vaccine refusal, drug and tobacco use, and birth control.

- Research experience with multiple studies and their data.

- Expertise in preparing grants and manuscripts related to Epidemiology Studies and surveillance of collected research data and their application to registries.

- Teaching experience in epidemiology courses
