Part-Time Faculty - Art, Fall 2025/Spring 2026
The University of Southern Maine’s Art Department is seeking part-time faculty members in Art History and Studio Art for our Spring 2023 semester, beginning January 17, 2023. The Art Department at the University of Southern Maine invites applications for Part-time Studio Art Faculty specifically in areas of 3D Foundations and Photography. Courses to be taught include in-person sections of Surface, Space, Time: 3D (ART 142), Photography: Analog to Digital (ART 271), and/or other classes as assigned. Surface, Space, Time: 3D (ART 142) - Provides an introduction to the fundamentals of 3D Design through a series of projects, demonstrations, and discussions. Photography: Analog to Digital (ART 271) - An introduction to historical developments and evolution of imaging technologies from traditional black and white photography and other experimental analog processes, extending to introduction of digital applications and multimedia possibilities. We are seeking studio-based faculty who are highly skilled in teaching fundamental skills in the area of 3D foundations curricula, including experience working with traditional sculptural materials, tools, and processes and ability to effectively teach elements and principles of 3D design. Part-time instructors in photography should have experience working with and instructing students in the tools, processes, and concepts of both analog and digital photography. Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience.
