Duties include but are not limited to:• Supervising permanent and seasonal park operations staff.• Planning, assigning, and evaluating operational and maintenance projects.• Conducting routine inspections of park grounds, buildings, and equipment to ensure proper upkeep and safety compliance.• Developing and maintaining work plans and staff schedules.• Performing and instructing staff in a wide variety of facility and grounds maintenance tasks, including janitorial work, landscaping, repairs, and small equipment operation.• Overseeing park cleaning, sanitation, refuse removal, snow removal, and general maintenance operations.• Monitoring supply inventories and ordering necessary materials and equipment.• Preparing and maintaining detailed reports related to work progress, personnel, and incidents.• Responding to inquiries, complaints, and emergency situations involving park patrons. Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).**To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, or 55 b/c, candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are:Either 1. three years of experience* in the construction, operation, or maintenance of a park, recreational facility, or campus;* one year of this experience must be at a supervisory level;Or 2. an associate's or higher level degree or 60 college semester credit hours*** AND one year of supervisory experience in the construction, operation or maintenance of a park, recreational facility, or campus.**A park, recreational facility, or campus is defined as a location that offers at least three of the following elements: athletic fields, skating rink, campgrounds, golf courses, hiking trails, historic structures, marinas, picnic areas, playgrounds, recreation programs, swimming facilities or education, environmental or interpretive programming.**For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.***Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.
