As a PRN Paramedic Critical Care, you must have at least years of experience working as a Paramedic. This position will be covering as needed based on department needs for PTO, sick time etc. with a minimum requirement of 2 shifts per month.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is a Ground Transport Critical Care Paramedic who provides comprehensive emergent/critical care to and/or stabilizes chronically and acutely ill or injured patients before and during transport to hospital facilities.


CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides care and transport for critically ill or injured patients of all age groups. Independently assesses patients, intervenes with medications and procedures and provides care to maximum outcomes.


2. Provides pre-hospital and interfacility medical care for pediatric through geriatric populations, which includes assessing patient condition, rendering of appropriate care, utilizing appropriate invasive treatments, administering medications, and interpreting EKGs.


3. Operates an assigned vehicle in emergent and non-emergent situations and in varying weather conditions, providing safe, reliable, and timely transport to a designated point of service.


4. Performs general care and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Performs daily vehicle inspections, completes, and accurately inventories narcotics, and inspects medical equipment, supplies and medications assigned to the department.

5. Maintains complete and accurate patient care reports (PCRs), prepares and maintains logs and/or other applicable records during assigned shift.

6. Performs advanced procedures with appropriate training and competency validations. Procedures include, but are not limited to: chest tubes,  I/O placement, cricothyrotomy, and intubation, and other skills in the scope of practice.


7. Performs all physical requirements of the job in confined spaces, during potentially adverse environmental conditions.


8. Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.

9. Serves as a lead during critical acuity transfers. Interacts with all levels of clinical care team, patients, families, EMS agencies, physicians, vendors, and the community. Oversees daily shift operations and associates assigned to shift.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

Minimum of two years of experience in a 911 EMS system is required.


Depending on state of practice, Paramedic Certification and/or Licensure and maintenance thereafter. Certification, endorsement, or licensure as a Critical Care Paramedic in the state of employment.  Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ITLS or PHTLS certifications upon hire.

Valid Driver's License on date of hire and maintenance thereafter.

Relates throughout the interview process the experience, training and education needed to perform the job. Must have the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills and autonomous practice as evidenced by successful completion of testing throughout the interview and orientation process. Must have the ability to remain flexible and work in various adverse conditions, such as weather, excessive heat, cold, high altitude, MCI and rural areas.

Knowledge of customer service principles and practices. Skilled in reading, writing, and comprehending English. Skilled in comprehending and following written and verbal instructions. Skilled in remaining calm in emergency situations. Skilled in operating a variety of modern office equipment. Skilled in operating a variety of tools and equipment.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Rotor wing/fixed wing/ground critical care transport experience desired.

NREMTP, NRP, EPC, and/or EMS Instructor certifications preferred.


Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
