Position Summary:
We are seeking an Office Clerk to work in our Baton Rouge, LA office to support the Field Agency Manager. You will efficiently and accurately handle various administrative duties. As an Office Clerk, you will answer phones, assist policyholders, help agents with licensing, underwriting notifications, policyholder information to process new and future new business. Communicating with Home Office personnel regarding policy status, underwriting notifications, claims status, and other misc. Policyholder and agent information/actions are also required.
Position Responsibilities:
Assists attorneys with the preparation of responses to discovery, including meeting with clients when necessary.Assists with preparation of cases for trial. Sends out discovery requests. Monitors compliance with discovery by all parties and prepares motions as appropriate. Assists attorneys with investigation of cases. Obtains medical, insurance, employment and/or other records/information, through record requests or subpoenas.Assists with the drafting of motions, briefs and other documents. Communicates with clients, claims adjusters, litigation specialists, attorneys' offices, medical provider offices, police departments, courts and agents to request additional information/documentation as assigned. Sets up legal file jackets, as needed. Maintains summary of all records received by case, for attorneys and other claims personnel. Performs legal research at the request of the attorneys.Position Qualification:
Should have 3-5 years of paralegal experience in addition to a paralegal certificate, or a degree and the ability to draft discover, etc. Must be familiar with operation of general office equipment including calculator, fax machine, copy machine, etc. Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and time management skills required. Prior PC experience required including knowledge of word processing software (Word and Excel preferred). Knowledge of law office management, time billing and legal research software preferred.The selected candidate will be required to work in office, with opportunities to work from home.The range for this position is $53,200 to $88,600. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors.
