Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a PARALEGAL SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1242000 and is part of the NGNC-SJA, National Guard (JFHQ-SJA / MD 1210-303). Responsibilities As a PARALEGAL SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), GS-0950-9, you will serve provide ancillary legal work to the state/territory SJA and other assigned Army National Guard (ARNG) and Air National Guard (ANG) attorneys servicing the state/territory National Guard's case load; provide research, analysis, guidance, and support to administer courts-martial, non-judicial punishment, administrative boards and other legal actions and administrative processes; implement the Preventative Law Program; support the state/territory Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) program; serve as the primary point of contact for claims; serve as a point of contact for ethical determinations; review Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests; provide legal assistance by receiving requests for routine or emergency legal assistance; perform a variety of administrative/clerical support functions to insure the effective operation of the office and legal programs in the absence of an office administrator. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: Enlisted (E4 to E6) Minimum Requirements: Experience, education or training that demonstrates the ability to analyze the legal impact of legislative developments and administrate and judicial decisions, opinions, rulings and determinations on agency programs; conduct research for the preparation of legal opinions on matters of interest to the agency. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience, education or training of applying the principles, concepts, and methods of legal research and reference sources such as agency manuals and directives. Experience applying the techniques and skills necessary to analyze both issues of fact and issues of law in order to prepare digests of case decisions, evaluate the applicability of precedents, or to draft briefs, other litigation papers, advisory opinions, or findings. Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements. Education You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
