Description We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our dynamic team in San Jose, California. This role involves providing essential legal support to attorneys, managing a variety of family law cases, and ensuring the highest level of service to clients. Responsibilities: • Assist attorneys in handling family law cases, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, restraining orders, and adoption. • Draft and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, declarations, stipulations, and discovery responses in compliance with California Family Code and local court rules. • Coordinate and manage court filings, ensuring accuracy and timely submission using e-filing systems. • Communicate with clients to gather necessary documentation, prepare them for hearings, depositions, and mediations, while maintaining strict confidentiality. • Conduct legal research and compile evidence to support case strategies and trial preparation. • Organize case files, exhibits, and trial binders to ensure attorneys are fully prepared for proceedings. • Draft, review, and organize discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production, and subpoenas. • Maintain detailed calendars for attorneys, tracking deadlines, hearings, depositions, and court appearances. • Utilize legal case management software to organize and maintain both electronic and physical case files. • Adhere to firm policies and ethical rules, ensuring compliance with all court regulations. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, with significant expertise in family law. • Proficiency in legal practice management software and e-filing platforms. • Strong skills in drafting legal documents and conducting legal research using tools like Westlaw or LexisNexis. • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in sensitive client-facing situations. • Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. • Familiarity with California family law court systems and local filing procedures. • Keen attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
