Description A well-established plaintiff personal injury law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join their San Rafael office on a long-term contract or contract-to-hire basis. The role will involve handling a high-volume caseload from intake through resolution, with a primary focus on pre-litigation work, settlement preparation, and ensuring files are trial-ready when necessary. Responsibilities + Manage personal injury cases from initial client intake through settlement. + Conduct client interviews and gather accident details, insurance coverage, and medical treatment history. + Request, obtain, and summarize medical records, billing statements, police reports, and other case documentation. + Draft and prepare demand packages, including detailed medical specials and damages summaries. + Maintain organized case files and track all deadlines in the firm’s case management system. + Communicate directly with clients, medical providers, and insurance adjusters regarding case status and documentation needs. + Track treatment progress and update damages spreadsheets on an ongoing basis. + Prepare settlement documents and coordinate lien negotiations with providers and insurance carriers. + Assist attorneys with trial preparation if cases proceed beyond settlement. Requirements Qualifications + Required: Minimum 2+ years of experience as a plaintiff-side personal injury paralegal or in another plaintiff-side civil litigation area with comparable pre-litigation workflows (e.g., employment law, medical malpractice). + Knowledge of California personal injury procedures and insurance claims handling. + Strong understanding of medical terminology, treatment timelines, and damages evaluation. + Proficiency with case management software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CasePeer or Needles preferred but not required. + Excellent communication and client service skills. + Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. + Ability to work onsite in San Rafael is strongly preferred. + Remote exception: Considered only for CA-based candidates with direct plaintiff PI experience.
