Caterpillar is seeking a Paralegal to join its legal team in Albertville, Alabama. The paralegal will be responsible for assisting corporate attorneys with legal tasks and activities to support Caterpillar’s Rail team through its wholly owned subsidiary, Progress Rail. This Rail Paralegal role will work directly as a partner with attorneys and internal business clients to support commercial contracts and related activities, which are implemented to help achieve the clients’ business goals and objectives covering the Rail team’s global footprint. The successful applicant will serve as trusted support to corporate attorneys and the internal business teams. This role works directly with Caterpillar and Progress Rail teams globally, as well as other legal professionals, and reports to an Assistant General Counsel for Rail sitting in Mannheim, Germany. 

What You Will Do:

Conducting legal tasks, such as contract drafting and related support, due diligence, and research, under the supervision of corporate legal attorneysAssisting corporate legal attorneys in resolving routine legal issuesWork closely with Rail business unit leadership and staff, as well as relevant subject matter expertsCollaborate with members of the enterprise legal team and regional legal teams to ensure the provision of responsive and high-quality legal support globallyMaintaining repositories of legal documentation and procedures

What You Have:

Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; Ability to collaborate and maintain working relationships vertically and horizontally, across levels and various business functions, and with external parties Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to independently manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocationDocument Management: Knowledge of document management; ability to categorize, integrate, update, document and distribute business information in a secure, effective wayLegal Analysis: Knowledge of methods and tools used in legal analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from both legal and factual information

Degree and Experience Requirements (include all of the following):

Paralegal certificate (not required if 2- or 4-year degree is in Paralegal Studies)2 or 4-year college degree, or equivalent experienceConsiderable paralegal job-related experience

Summary Pay Range:

$71,040.00 - $106,440.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
