Position
The Paralegal will provide specialized support to TechSoup's NGOsource program, which functions as an online equivalency determination (ED) service for US funders who make international grants. NGOsource offers a unique centralized repository of EDs for NGOs and governments located in more than 160 countries, serving over 600 grantmaker members, including nine of the ten largest international grantmakers in the US.
This role focuses primarily on supporting 2-3 attorneys through document analysis, quality assurance, and client communication to ensure compliance with international philanthropy regulations and equivalency determination requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Paralegal will be responsible for:
+ Document Analysis & Quality Control: Carefully reviewing NGO submission materials, legal documents, and compliance filings for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to equivalency determination standards.
+ Error Identification & Resolution: Identifying discrepancies, missing information, or compliance gaps in submitted documentation and developing clear corrective action plans.
+ Client Communication: Professionally communicating with international NGOs and partner organizations via email to request corrections, clarifications, or additional documentation needed for equivalency determinations.
+ Administrative Support: Maintaining organized case files, tracking submission statuses, and ensuring timely processing of equivalency determination requests.
+ Legal Research Assistance: Supporting attorneys with research related to international nonprofit law, tax-exempt regulations, and country-specific legal requirements.
+ Database Management: Updating and maintaining NGOsource's repository of equivalency determinations and organizational records.
+ Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance the efficiency of the equivalency determination process.
+ Cross-functional Collaboration: Working closely with the Associate General Counsel, Senior Legal Counsel, and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
Qualifications Required:
+ Minimum of 3-5 years of paralegal experience in a law firm, nonprofit organization, or corporate legal department.
+ Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
+ Excellent written communication skills, particularly in professional correspondence.
+ Experience with document review, legal analysis, and compliance procedures.
+ Proficiency in case management systems and legal databases.
+ Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining high productivity.
+ Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
+ Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
Preferred:
+ Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program OR equivalent relevant experience.
+ Experience with international law, nonprofit compliance, or grant-making processes.
+ Knowledge of tax-exempt organization regulations (501(c)(3) requirements) a plus.
+ Experience working with international clients or cross-cultural communication.
+ Foreign language skills (any language is beneficial).
+ Familiarity with due diligence processes and legal compliance frameworks.

The base salary range for this full-time remote position is $52,000.00-$70,000.00 plus benefits. TechSoup determines salary ranges based on role, level, and location. The range reflects the minimum and maximum targets for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Individual pay is determined by location and other factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, business needs, and market demands. TechSoup offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other perks.
