Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. Job DescriptionNBCUniversal is seeking to hire a paralegal for Versant’s offices in New York, NY who will support Versant’s litigation team.
Job Duties
Assist with the intake of new legal matters, including receiving service of process and working with the company’s agent for service of process, preparing outside counsel engagement letters and setting up outside counsel for billing, issuing legal hold notices, and preparing tender lenders in indemnified matters.Assist with the maintenance, tracking and termination of legal holds using an Exterro platform.Assist with tracking outside counsel and other legal vendor spend using a T360 electronic billing platform.Assist with filings in federal and state courts.Assist with responses to subpoenas.File litigation documents and work product in the company’s electronic filing system.Maintain calendars of litigation deadlines.Assist with discovery, including helping to identify and collect potentially responsive documents and liaising with third-party ediscovery providers on the collection, hosting, processing and production of documents in litigation and regulatory matters.Assist with research using online resources and databases such as Westlaw and Pacer.Assist in maintaining the company’s document retention schedule.Support preparation of guidance and training materials by the litigation team.Provide additional support to the team as needed.QualificationsBasic Requirements
3+ years of relevant experience as a paralegal, and/or equivalent experience in a law firm, corporate or government setting; or a J.D. degree.Proficiency with software programs, including the suite of programs in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Copilot).Paralegal certificate preferred.Desired Characteristics
Experience with litigation strongly preferred.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Attention to detail.Tech-savvy; experience with and/or willingness to appropriately use new technology tools.Superior organizational skills.Ability to work both collaboratively, as well as independently based on general guidance and experience.Demonstrated ability to handle multiple simultaneous assignments in a fast-paced environment.Having a notary public license or being willing to apply for one is a plus.Additional Requirements
