**Job Overview:**
The Painter Superintendent role requires an in-depth understanding of project execution strategies, workforce management theories, and Painter principles, with a basic knowledge of related disciplines. The Painter Superintendent must be able to apply industry insights to enhance on-site productivity, provide leadership, and influence processes and policies for effective workforce governance, as well as identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational problems that impact project outcomes. The Painter Superintendent’s decisions are pivotal in ensuring that the team meets its objectives with efficiency and adherence to safety standards. These decisions should be guided by established policies, resource allocations, budget considerations, and the overarching project plan.
**Key Tasks and Responsibilities:**
+ Oversee the painting and coating operations within the fabrication division, ensuring all tasks are executed in line with project specifications and quality standards
+ Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilation systems, to maintain a hazard-free work environment
+ Coordinate with project management to schedule painting activities, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to deadlines without compromising quality
+ Supervise the preparation of surfaces, application of coatings, and finishing processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and manufacturer guidelines
+ Manage a team of painters and coating technicians, providing direction, training, and performance evaluations to maintain a skilled and efficient workforce
+ Monitor the consumption of paints and coatings, managing inventory and ordering supplies to avoid project delays while controlling costs
+ Implement quality control measures, inspecting completed work to confirm it meets corrosion resistance, durability, and aesthetic requirements
+ Liaise with clients, inspectors, and other stakeholders to address any concerns regarding painting and coating standards and to ensure customer satisfaction
+ Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
+ Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
+ Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams
**Essential Qualifications and Education:**
+ Technical diploma or certification in industrial painting, coating technology, or a related field, with a thorough understanding of fabrication painting processes
+ Significant experience in industrial painting and coating, with a focus on fabrication projects, and a proven track record in a supervisory role
+ Knowledge of a variety of coating systems, surface preparation techniques, and application methods, including spray painting and specialized finishes
+ Strong commitment to safety, with experience in enforcing safety standards in a painting and coating environment, including knowledge of hazardous materials handling
+ Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage, train, and motivate a team of painting professionals
+ Excellent organizational and communication skills, capable of coordinating multiple projects and effectively interacting with team members and external parties
+ Attention to detail and a commitment to quality, ensuring that all painting work meets the required standards and specifications
+ Flexibility to work in various environments and adapt to different project schedules, including the willingness to work overtime or on weekends as necessary
