Job description:
Job Purpose:
To carry out surface preparation, painting, and coating of mining equipment, infrastructure, and components in the process plant operations at Kansanshi Mine. This role aims to prevent corrosion, ensure safety markings are clearly visible, and maintain both operational integrity and visual standards across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, filling, and applying primers as required.Apply protective coatings and industrial paints to equipment, structures, pipes, tanks, and vehicles according to technical specifications and operational requirements.Perform touch-ups, repainting, and refurbishment of worn or damaged painted surfaces to maintain standards.Ensure proper masking and protection of non-painted areas to prevent contamination.Mix paints accurately to achieve required color and consistency using specified ratios and procedures.Maintain and care for painting tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring they are in good working order.Comply strictly with health, safety, and environmental regulations, with particular attention to chemical handling and ventilation in mining environments.Interpret and follow work instructions, safety signage, and colour-coding systems relevant to mining process plant operations.Identify and report areas requiring painting or corrosion control to supervisors or relevant departments.Maintain accurate records of work performed, paint consumption, and inspection results for quality control and audit purposes.Qualifications & Experience:
Craft Certificate in Painting, Industrial Coating, or related field.Minimum 2–3 years of experience in an industrial or mining environment.Familiarity with various types of industrial paints, coatings, and application techniques (brush, roller, spray gun).Core Competencies:
