Packaging Specialist

We are seeking Packaging Specialists for our First Quality Baby Products site located in Macon, GA.  This position will be responsible for standardizing operating parameters, changing parts, changeover parts, equipment rebuilds and machinery overhaul of major packaging machinery which include, but are not limited to all baggers, case packers and palletizers etc.; providing employee training on proper set-up and troubleshooting packaging equipment related issues; and providing consistent machinery set up to achieve precise tolerances as well as provide installation, start up support and training for team members.

Primary responsibilities include:

Observe all safety rules and use of proper safety equipment.Adherence to GMP, FDA, and ISO regulations.Repair mechanical components of equipment as required.Establish a structured training process to elevate team member skill sets as it pertains to the packaging equipment, including education on how to effectively interface with the packaging equipment; share knowledge and techniques with team members and assists with training.Organize change parts and establish a matrix to identify change parts required by package configuration to simplify changeover process.Troubleshoot and analyze mechanical and operational issues on affected equipment and take corrective action to resolve the issues.Conduct Process Audits of all equipment to document condition and settings prior to equipment tear down.Maintain methodical disassembly process to remain organized, clean and orderly.Perform machinery component inspection of all subassemblies and parts for evidence of wear and damage.Compare suspect findings to OEM Standards to ensure optimization of unit.Complete all required documentation thoroughly and consistently, including the ability to create and/or generate reports as necessary.Consistently provide accurate set up of all operating parameters, torque settings, indexing assemblies and fitment alignment etc.

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

High school diploma or equivalent required.Three years of industrial maintenance experience required.Technical or vocational school related training preferred.Capable of equipment assembly to satisfy OEM Precision Requirements.Standard mechanical knowledge of packaging machinery, equipment, and components.High Precision machinery assembly experience required (Tool and Die Maker experience a plus).Advanced Optima and Schneider experience and training preferred.Good communication and analytical skills.Ability to use all measuring tools, micrometers, Vernier calipers, feeler gauges etc.Ability to run the equipment, hand tools, and power tools.Ability to utilize office equipment and appropriate software to create and/or generate reports as necessary.Ability to work well with others and perform efficiently with minimal directionAbility to work in a team-oriented environment.

  

Physical Requirements include:

Frequent walking/standing during a 12-hour rotating shift (including working on nights and weekends).Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling and squatting.Frequent pushing and pulling with arms, including materials requiring up to 75 pounds of force to maneuver.Frequent lifting or carrying of boxes weighing up to 50lbs.Constant use of hands throughout shift.Constant light and firm grasping with hands throughout shift.Daily sweeping and organizing floor and work area.Occasional climbing of steps and ladders.Operation of cranes, hoists, hand trucks and roll manipulators.Occasional climbing and reaching into machines to fix jams.During Equipment Installation required to stay until line has started up.Work in a manufacturing environment with the potential for exposure to dust during certain tasks.
