Over the past few years, there has been an increasing number of regulations & market pressures related to sustainability and circularity, specifically those pertaining to packaging compliance. A rapid succession of complex sustainability policies has been evolving globally and many more are expected to arise in the future.
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) are environmental policies that makes producers responsible for the entire life cycle of their products, from design to end-of-life management, including waste collection and recycling. The focus of this position is on packaging requirements and may extend to the EPR requirements.
The Qnity Product Stewardship and Regulatory Affairs team is looking for a Product Packaging Regulations Senior Specialist who will monitor the product packaging requirements in the Europe (EMEA), US, Canada, Latin America, interpret them based the Qnity product lines, and support corporate level product packaging compliance (i.e., reporting).
Your key responsibilities:
Serve as packaging single point of contact for Qnity businesses to ensure product packaging regulatory compliance.
Frame & monitor the regulatory packaging requirements & compliance obligations (i.e., reporting) in EMEA and Americas regions.
Assess business impact of the relevant product packaging compliance regulations/requirements (upcoming or changing) based on region/country and packaging material in scope of Qnity range of products.
Update the Qnity business teams on the new/upcoming requirements to stay ahead of regulatory changes and minimize compliance risks.
Establish a community of practices around packaging requirements.
Coordinate Qnity businesses in compliance cross-functional processes & reporting.
Drive continuous improvement of company wide product packaging standards, guidance and practices.
Define and develop a strategic compliance plan related to emerging packaging regulations (design, recycled content, recyclability).
Develop and implement training plan related to Packaging/EPR for different internal stakeholders.
Serve as the Qnity focal point for the national authorities and EPR schemes (eco-organisms).
Represent Qnity in relevant industry association working group.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (chemical, mechanical, or packaging preferred) or physical science (chemistry, material science preferred).
5+ years relevant experience in product packaging preferred.
Demonstrated background in regulatory compliance including interpretations and action planning.
Strong project management skills.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated and organized; able to simultaneously work on multiple assignments and to work independently as well as on teams.
Fluency in English; German, French preferred.
