Gaylord is located in south central Minnesota about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Our location produces liquid egg, hardcook egg, and precooked egg such as scrambled, patties and omelets. Responsibilities Position Summary: The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring that all products are packaged efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves operating and maintaining various packaging machinery, performing quality checks, and adhering to food safety and sanitation standards. *12 hour shift time from 6:00pm-6:00am* Duties and Responsibilities: Operate and Maintain Packaging Equipment: Operate and monitor tray packers to ensure continuous, efficient operation. Ensure tray packers are loaded properly and glue volume is maintained. Operate and maintain video jet printers, ensuring cleanliness, fluid levels, correct coding, and legible printing. Monitor shrink-wrap machines and replenish film as needed. Quality Control & Compliance: Inspect and verify date codes on master shippers for legibility and accuracy. Follow established procedures for ingredient mixing and production setup. Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards at all times. Sanitation and Safety: Perform sanitation tasks in accordance with department and food safety guidelines, sometimes for full shift durations. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety protocols. Team Support and Flexibility: Provide break and vacation coverage for other packaging machine operators. Foster a positive work environment and promote open communication with coworkers. Maintain regular, punctual attendance and a strong work ethic. Technical Skills and Reporting: Navigate operating systems and tablets to conduct quality and performance checks. Perform basic preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on packaging equipment, including extended run fillers such as Elopack Fillers/Capers and Scholle. Calculate and interpret measurements including percentages, proportions, fractions, and ratios as needed for production. Additional Responsibilities: Report any conditions or practices that could compromise food safety, quality, or personnel safety to management. Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership. Qualifications Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills: One to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors, or employees of the organization. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided orally and to address problems involving a single concrete variable in standardized situations. Basic computer literacy and proficiency. The pay range for this position is $21.00 to $26.50 per hour.
