The Gist
The Packaging Manager at Lagunitas oversees production planning and staffing across all packaging lines (bottling, kegging, canning), ensuring safety, quality, and productivity goals are met. This role fosters a safety-first culture, implements best practices to improve efficiency, and enforces quality controls meeting regulatory standards.
What You’ll Do
Operations & Safety Management
Ensure safety compliance; conduct audits and collaborate with EH&S on OSHA and company policies. Lead safety initiatives, participate in audits, meetings, and behavior-based safety program. Provide leadership with data-driven recommendations and oversee project planning, budgets, and timelines. Manage production goals around quality, labor costs, schedule adherence, efficiency, and order accuracy. Collaborate with Quality to ensure product and packaging material quality. Maintain sanitation standards and develop KPIs with Plant Manager. Lead TPM activities including 5S, RCFA, Kaizens, and Autonomous Maintenance. Build and lead cross-functional teams; drive communication, hiring, training, and professional development.Health & Safety Program
Develop and enforce packaging safety policies and training. Coordinate safety initiatives across departments and follow up on action items.Budget & Purchasing
Participate in budget planning and manage departmental expenses for materials, labor, and maintenance.
What We’re Lookin’ For
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years managing high-speed carbonated beverage packaging (beer preferred). Project management and ERP experience. Knowledge of GMP and OSHA regulations. Proven leadership in team building, coaching, and change management.
Key Relationships
Reports to Plant Manager. Collaborates with Operations Leadership including Quality, Safety, Maintenance, Brewing, Warehouse, and Production Planning.
Physical Stuff
Ability to lift and move up to 55 lbs regularly, including cases, sacks, and kegs. Occasional travel to other sites and industry events. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
