Packaging Lab Manager, Device Packaging Experience
Description Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronic devices. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com. Since then, we have worked to produce hardware and software for Fire tablets, Kindle Oasis, Amazon Fire TV, and Amazon Echo. The Packaging Engineering team at Lab126 works closely with Design, Global Commodity Management, Supplier Quality Management, and Operations teams in the US and China throughout the design cycle. They are responsible for helping to drive the development of packaging part manufacturing and processes towards Marketing and ID intent. They are also responsible for participating in early engagement design recommendations, driving detailed engineering studies, and continuously driving towards yield and cycle time targets ahead of mass production. Key job responsibilities The role of Lab Manager is to provide engineering support for lab testing, prototypes, and owning the lab space. They will be responsible lab operations and ensuring the lab is stocked with appropriate materials to help with NPI and sustaining programs. They are also responsible for test reports and collaborating with engineers about results and root cause for damage and potential solutions. A successful candidate will be able to drive efficiency in the Packaging Engineering team by identifying areas for improvement. Key Job Responsibilities: * Conducing packaging testing and writing reports with results * Support the qualification of new packaging materials * Ensure lab is in orderly and stocked with appropriate resources and materials * Help support package prototyping and sampling needs * Manage lab equipment and maintenance Basic Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or related field • 1+ years working in package testing or packaging development role • Hands on testing experience with ISTA, ASTM 4169 or similar testing standards Preferred Qualifications • Ability to work with international teams and suppliers in different time zones. • Working knowledge to develop prototypes with ArtiosCAD, 3D CAD Software, and 3D Printing. • Experience with crating solutions for heavy and/or large scale goods. Ability to evaluate various cushioning and dampening components to reduce impact and vibration damage. The base pay for this position ranges from $73,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $165,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
