The Packaging Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and optimization of packaging systems and solutions for production lines. This role ensures that packaging meets performance, safety, sustainability, and cost-efficiency standards while supporting capital projects and operational improvements.
Responsibilities
+ Design and implement packaging systems for new and existing production lines, including filling, cartoning, labeling, and palletizing equipment.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as product development, operations, and procurement, to define packaging requirements and specifications.
+ Lead packaging-related portions of capital projects, including equipment selection, vendor coordination, installation, and commissioning.
+ Conduct feasibility studies, cost analyses, and risk assessments for packaging solutions.
+ Ensure compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and sustainability goals.
+ Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of packaging operations.
+ Maintain documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing across engineering teams.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
+ 3–5 years of experience in packaging engineering within a manufacturing environment.
+ Strong understanding of packaging materials, machinery, and automation systems.
+ Experience with CAD software and packaging simulation tools.
+ Familiarity with lean manufacturing and sustainability practices.
+ Excellent project management and communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with turnkey packaging lines or integration of individual equipment.
+ Knowledge of Nestlé systems or prior experience in food manufacturing is a plus.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
This position requires 100% onsite work in Hartwell.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
