Job Title: Packaging Buyer

Job Description

We are seeking a Packaging Buyer responsible for managing the packaging and kitting purchasing for the Customer Service Division. This role involves negotiating services, program management, and handling project-based work, including market testing to find the best value. The ideal candidate can work with both new and existing suppliers in a fast-paced environment.

ResponsibilitiesPurchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.Support the purchasing function and relevant departments, communicating any supply problems impacting business operations.Act as an interface between suppliers and relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects.Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.Provide analysis on costs, review cost reduction activities, and work on continuous improvement.Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms with suppliers, and seek business savings using negotiation and procurement best practices.Build and maintain supplier relationships and ensure effective communication.Research new components and suppliers.Compile data on supplier performance for evaluation.Resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues with suppliers.Address supplier shortages and past-due situations.Update and maintain commodity strategies.Collaborate with cost estimating to develop cost estimates for savings negotiations.Produce weekly reports and status updates on open assignments and projects.Perform market tests, analyze responses, and award sourcing of parts.Review open vehicles off road (VOR) and backorders weekly to expedite parts delivery.Essential Skills5+ years of recent Packaging & Kitting purchasing experience4+ years in facilities, warehouse, service, or program managementProven examples of packaging negotiations and a creative approach to finding cost savingsSAP experienceIntermediate Excel knowledge (Normal User 80% or higher)Strong communication skillsCompleted Bachelor's DegreeAdditional Skills & QualificationsStrong negotiation skillsKnowledge of Ford systemsExperience with AribaFamiliarity with S4 HanaMust complete Excel Normal User Test (80% or higher)Work Environment

The role requires working onsite in Dearborn for 3 days initially, moving to 4 days onsite, and potentially 5 days depending on leadership decisions. The work schedule is 40 hours per week, from 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch. The dress code is business casual. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $60.00/hr.
