Job Summary
Perform work associated with the installation, operation, testing and maintenance of all protection and control devices and related equipment under general supervision. Such devices and equipment includes but is not limited to digital relays, electromechanical relays, intelligent electronic devices, Station Disturbance Recorders (SDR), digital fault recorders (DFR), oscillographs and event recorders, RTU's and station SCADA systems, statistical load metering, telemetering and transducers. Additionally, install, maintain and operate all power line carriers (PLC), tone, pilot wire, fiber and associated P&C communications equipment. Respond to emergency call-outs and coordinate prompt restoration of service to customers as required. Employee may perform miscellaneous, related, and incidental work in addition to that specifically outlined below., The following reference is provided as a guideline for persons responsible for directing the duties and responsibilities of assigned personnel, to assist in the safety and development of employees, and is not intended to limit assignment of work or the degree of supervision under all operating conditions:, DIRECT SUPERVISION - When a qualified person is working with/hands-on with the person performing the designated task., IMMEDIATE SUPERVISION - When a qualified person is near the structure/equipment and is in constant visual and/or verbal contact to the person performing the designated task., GENERAL SUPERVISION - An employee of equal or higher classification, knowledgeable of the task at hand and not necessarily at the job site., QUALIFIED PERSON ? P&C Technician Sr or Supervisor who is knowledgeable of the task or work to be performed, and is capable of performing the appropriate emergency rescue.Job Description
What You’ll Do:
Assist in the performance of acceptance and installation tests on protection, control, and measurement devices and associated equipment in stations.
Assist in the installation, maintenance, and operation of all power line carriers, station SCADA, and associated communications equipment or cables as assigned.
Perform switching under direct supervision of qualified personnel following direction of the proper operating authority.
Assist in the installation, maintenance, and operation of any new and added equipment or systems as assigned.
Maintain test equipment and automotive equipment in good working order so that work can be performed safely and efficiently anywhere throughout the System.
Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports and drawings as required.
Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
Perform all duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules and operating regulations, NERC and environmental compliance, and practices.
Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.
Test protection &control devices and equipment periodically and as required.
11) Calibrate protection & control devices and equipment on a pre-established schedule and as required.
Assist with diagnosis of trouble, mis-operation, or damage of equipment and assist with corrective action to affect repair and prevent recurrence.
Operate a computer device to test, calibrate, and retrieve data from protection & control and devices.

P&C Technician II (N010 – PC1): $30.12 per hour
Basic Qualifications:
Education Requirements: Associate’s degree in electrical engineering technology, electronic technology or related technology field.
Experience Requirements: No previous work experience required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Physical demand level is Heavy. These are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, license / certifications, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.
Must satisfactorily complete, in such time frames as may be established by the Company, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the next higher classification in the line of progression or vacate the current classification.
Must have the ability and desire to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities of the key job (P & C Technician Sr in this family and be qualified through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law.
Considerable travel and overtime may be required to complete work assignments.
Must successfully complete Physical Abilities Test (PAT)
P&C Technician I (N010 – PC2): $34.99 per hour
Basic Qualifications:
Education requirements: Associate's degree in electrical engineering technology, electronic technology or related technology field.
Experience Requirements: Minimum of 12 months satisfactory work experience as a P&C Technician I or the equivalent (as determined by the Company through demonstration, examination and performance appraisal), and successful completion of the certification test.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Physical demand level is Heavy. These are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, license / certifications, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.
Must have satisfactorily performed the duties of and have all the qualifications of a P & C Technician II.
Shall have performed the duties of and have all the qualifications of a P&C Technician II and 24 months of on the job experience or the equivalent. Equivalent experience is determined at the time of the assessment with appropriate time step credit given. Shall qualify through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company.
Must be familiar with current, potential, closing and trip circuits.
Must demonstrate proficiency in wiring of switchboard panels.
Must have the ability to read, understand, and correct electrical prints, diagrams, and instruction books related to protection, control, and measurements circuits and equipment.
Must have the ability to operate tools and other equipment necessary to perform the duties of this position.
Must have the ability and desire to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities of the key job (P & C Technician Sr) in this family and be qualified through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal in such time frames as determined by the Company or vacate the current classification.
Must demonstrate the ability to perform duties in an alert, safe, and business-like manner and the ability to deal with customers and other employees in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to interpret, analyze and transmit facts graphically, orally, and in writing clearly and precisely.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law.

Successful completion of the Physical Abilities Test (PAT)
P&C Technician Senior (N010 – PC3): $40.29 per hour
Education Requirements: Associate's degree in electrical engineering technology, electronic technology or related technology field
Experience Requirements: Minimum of 24 months satisfactory combined work experience as a P&C Technician I or P&C Technician I Certified or the equivalent (as determined by the Company through demonstration, examination and performance appraisal).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
These are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, license / certifications, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.
Must have satisfactorily performed the duties of and have all the qualifications of a P&C Technician I and/or P&C Technician I Certified.
Shall have performed the duties of and have all the qualifications of either a P&C Technician I or P&C Technician I Certified and a combined 24 months of on-the-job experience or the equivalent. Equivalent experience is determined at the time of the assessment with appropriate time step credit given. Shall qualify through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company.
Working knowledge of current, potential, closing and trip circuits.
Working knowledge of material such as cable, lugs, and wire as applied to protective relay and control circuits.
Working knowledge of assembly, anchoring, and interchangeability of the various switchboard panel-support and through systems.
Must have the ability to read, understand, and correct electrical prints and diagrams and the ability to use hand tools.
Must demonstrate the ability to perform duties in an alert, safe, and business-like manner and the ability to deal with customers and other employees in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to interpret, analyze and transmit facts graphically, orally, and in writing clearly and precisely.
