Onsite Field Engineer - Data Centers - Phoenix, AZ

We are seeking an Onsite Field Engineer to be the "bridge" that connects the Owners, Contractors and Offsite Design Team. This on-site engineering rep will be onsite for a multi-year data center construction project. This role will ensure seamless coordination and construction administration during the project. The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical or mechanical engineering with experience in data center construction, commissioning, and field inspections.

Responsibilities:

Act as an onsite field / resident engineer for the engineering design team, ensuring design intent is upheld during constructionConduct site observations, document progress, and provide reports to the design teamSupport multiple data center builds in a region / travel as neededSupport construction administration by reviewing RFI’s, change orders, submittals, and specificationsWhen in the field, candidate will be working onsite at the data center project working out of the construction trailerParticipate in equipment inspections, factory witness testing, and vendor QA/QC visitsAssist in coordinating site inspections and resolving field issues with contractors and vendorsAttend design coordination workshops, commissioning (CxA) meetings, BIM coordination meetings, and owner-furnished contractor-installed (OFCI) vendor meetingsReview contractor installations for compliance with design specifications and industry standardsProvide technical expertise on mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring alignment with the Owner’s requirementsSupport all levels of testing and commissioning (L1-L5)Review and respond to contractor RFIs with the goal of reducing unnecessary queriesVerify compliance with Owner’s program and project deliverablesMaintain accurate documentation of site activities, non-conformances, and testing resultsSupport the design team by providing real-time feedback from the construction siteEnsure that lessons learned are documented and implemented in future projects

Qualifications:

5-15+ years of experience in data center construction, design, commissioning, or MEP engineeringBachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred but relevant experience also consideredEIT or PE license is a plus but not requiredStrong understanding of MEP systems (HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, Boilers, Chillers, Generators, UPS, Switchgear, Electrical Power Distribution)Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM for design reviews is a plusProficient in construction administration and document managementStrong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze field conditions and recommend solutionsExcellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with Owners, contractors, and engineering teamsAbility to work on large construction sites independently and safely Travel 50% / otherwise work from homePrevious experience in the Military / Military Veterans a huge plus! Experience with Electrical / Mechanical: Navy nukes - EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, etc.
