As an outpatient pharmacist, you will play the important role of administering medications to patients accurately and efficiently. Using your in-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical practices, you will fulfill prescriptions with the correct medications and dosages with absolute precision. Your role is an essential element of our comprehensive model of physical and mental health care.
Caregivers will find themselves in a highly collaborative position as they work with teams of varying sizes at various locations. This floating position will cover positions at Cleveland Clinic’s eastside locations such as Willoughby, Beachwood, Twinsburg, Marymount and Hillcrest. A schedule will be provided 2-3 weeks in advance so you always know which location you will be assisting fellow caregivers at. Some pharmacies do support bedside, giving you the opportunity to even further direct care and compassion to our communities.
Caregivers in this role will work 8-hour day shifts from Monday through Friday, anytime between 7:00am to 6:00pm. This a floating position and you will be provided a schedule 2-3 weeks in advance. Caregivers could be stationed at one location for one week or one day. Every 6th weekend, caregivers in this role will work at Cleveland Clinic’s Euclid Avenue Retail Pharmacy either Saturday or Sunday. No on-call or holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered and evidence-based medication services.Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal guidelines.Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.Actively contribute to medication safety initiatives.Utilize available technology proficiently and to full extent.Ensure all pharmacy operations are in compliance with national accreditation standards.Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences.Direct staff appropriately to provide safe and efficient care.Maintain professional working relationships with all caregivers at every location.Promote a positive work environment by providing constructive ideas and feedback to improve services and the department.Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers and/or patients.Provide cost-effective care.Account for drug use policy adherence.Utilize time and resources effectively.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
PharmD or Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited university of pharmacyCurrent state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh), or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire.1-2 years of outpatient experience (no residency required)Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Board CertificationCompletion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience preferredPost-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience preferred for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a Specialized Pharmacy practice area (i.e. Critical Care, Oncology)Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities. Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
