The Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) is seeking an ORS Supervisor to join the Office of Unemployment Insurance. This position is responsible for the direct supervision and review of work performed by the benefits staff.
Office of Unemployment Insurance Administration (OUIA) Overview:
OUIA oversees Louisiana’s Unemployment Insurance (UI) program, which provides temporary financial assistance to eligible workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own. The office manages the full UI lifecycle, including employer tax collection, benefit claims processing, fraud prevention, and appeals.
Minimum Qualifications
Six years of experience in unemployment insurance, workforce development programs, workers’ compensation, administrative services, or social services; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of experience in unemployment insurance, workforce development programs, workers’ compensation, administrative services, or social services; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in unemployment insurance, workforce development programs, workers’ compensation, administrative services, or social services; OR
An advanced degree in any field or a Juris Doctorate plus two years of experience in unemployment insurance, workforce development programs, workers’ compensation, administrative services, or social services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
•Directly manages adjudication and call center staff who file claims, answer benefit claims questions, make updates to unemployment claims, make decisions and issues determinations on claims, process child support orders, and complete alien verifications involving significant state unemployment insurance benefits, and federal programs including Trade Readjustment Act (TRA), Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA), Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees (UCFE), Unemployment Compensation for Ex-servicepersons (UCX), Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC), etc.
•Monitors daily adjudication completions and timeliness of adjudications in accordance with federal and state mandates. Monitors calls answered per day by staff. Monitors daily and hourly hold times to ensure customers are assisted promptly in accordance with internal/agency mandates.
•Responsible for assigning and reviewing the work of subordinates daily, weekly, or monthly, and assuring that production and accuracy requirements are met.
•Conducts annual performance evaluations and initiates performance plans as needed based on evaluation outcomes.
•Creates a work environment that respects, appreciates, and accepts the contributions and perspectives of employees. Makes every effort to provide a work environment free from harassing conduct by acting promptly and effectively to stop harassing conduct, by holding employees accountable who have engaged in harassing conduct, and by protecting employees who have reported harassing conduct from retaliation. Adheres to the completion of annual training requirements
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a Probational or a Job Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a Promotion (open to all statewide classified and agency-wide permanent status employees); or by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected. If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.
