About the Role:
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a talented coach/consultant for the role of an Organizational Development Consultant/ Coach (ODC). The Organizational Development Consultant (ODC) provides strategic consulting, coaching, and training to subgrantees in the Capacity Building Grant programs. The ODC supports subgrantees in meeting grant workplan goals and building sustainable capacity beyond the grant term. ODCs help strengthen organizational structures by aligning affiliate development with the best HFHI practices in governance, operations, and leadership. In collaboration with other HFHI departments, ODCs create and deliver training materials and resources that reflect HFHI policies and strategic priorities. As a liaison to affiliate grantees, ODCs gather feedback to inform program strategy and ensure resources are responsive to affiliate needs.
About the Capacity Building Grant Program:
The Capacity Building Program (CB) empowers affiliates to serve more people, increase housing production, improve financial stability, and build a strong operational foundation. CB is funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) which receives appropriated funds for Capacity Building for Community Development and Affordable Housing Grants.
This position will be based remotely within the US and the candidate must be comfortable with domestic travel of up to 40%.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver tailored consulting services to a portfolio of subgrantee clients at the start of each grant cycle.
- Service plans are developed in collaboration with each client and take into consideration their self-assessment using the Sustainability Guide, three-year workplan, and other relevant organizational priorities. All consulting support is provided in a manner consistent with HFHI policies
and aligned with its mission. Services may include a combination of virtual and on-site training, coaching for staff and board leadership, strategic planning facilitation, and ongoing technical assistance to build organizational capacity and support long-term sustainability. (45%)
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies for all Capacity Building Grant programs, ensuring outreach and engagement across the affiliate network. Strategies will include the education and alignment of HFHI departments and Affiliate Support Organizations (ASOs) to promote awareness, understanding, and participation in grant opportunities. (10%)
- Document data and success stories on a consistent basis through established reporting mechanisms, ensuring all consulting activities are accurately captured and aligned with HUD reporting requirements. This includes tracking key metrics, outcomes, and narratives that demonstrate impact
and support both internal learning and external accountability. (10%)
- Collaborate with the Capacity Building team to design and execute Orientation and Feedback sessions for each grant program. Lead the development and delivery of high-quality learning content, including recommending key trainers and identifying opportunities for collaboration with relevant HFHI departments. These efforts aim to ensure a cohesive and impactful learning experience aligned with program objectives and organizational priorities. (15%)
- Review and make funding recommendations for affiliates applying for grant funding. In line with continuous improvement evaluate grant applications, templates and planning guides consistently and provide recommendation to revise when necessary. Ensure alignment with the Affiliate Sustainability and Growth Guide as well as HFHI policy. (15%)
- Serve as a contributing member and/or liaison to HFHI committees and workgroups when appropriate and approved by leadership. (5%)
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 3 years of nonprofit business consulting experience around process improvement.
- Experience in designing and delivering effective training programs and educational initiatives for adult learners, with the ability to develop engaging content, adapt to diverse learning styles, and facilitate both virtual and in person learning and consulting environments.
- Ability to provide clear guidance, feedback, and updates to team members, stakeholders and partners.
- Demonstrated proficiency in proactive communication, ensuring timely information sharing and status updates.
- Proven ability to provide clear guidance and answers to questions and concerns for stakeholders and partners, ensuring a positive experience, maintaining customer satisfaction and building trust. This includes actively listening to understand needs, addressing issues promptly, and offering effective solutions.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision. Demonstrated self-motivation and initiative in completing tasks and projects efficiently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows with advanced skills in MS Office tools and extensive experience using MS Teams for collaboration.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and partners through virtual communication platforms. This includes effectively conveying ideas, providing clear guidance, and fostering collaboration in a remote setting.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $72,000 - $85,000.
