**The role you'll contribute:**
Our Legacy is designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as the only organ procurement organization (OPO) in east central Florida and is accredited by the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) as a tissue recovery agency. OurLegacy's scope of operations extends to each of the following hospitals within the AdventHealth's Hospital system: Altamonte, Apopka, Celebration, Daytona Beach, Deland, East Orlando, Fish Memorial, Kissimmee, New Smyrna Beach, Orlando, Palm Coast, Waterman and Winter Park. Additionally, CMS has designated OurLegacy to provide organ and tissue donation services to all non-AdventHealth acute care and critical access hospitals and free-standing emergency rooms in the following counties: Brevard, Flagler, Indian River, Lake, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia. The Organ Procurement Coordinator (OPC) is the hub of the organ donation process and must be dedicated to supporting the mission of OurLegacy to provide the opportunity to improve and extend lives through organ and tissue donation for transplantation. Responsible for all aspects of organ recovery including making medical suitability determinations of all potential donor referrals according to OurLegacy protocol, collaborating with the medical and nursing staff of the above-named hospitals to ensure the pathway to donation remains viable, and requesting authorization for organ and tissue donation from the donor's legally authorized party in the absence of a donor directive. Directs ICU teams to achieve the protocol-driven clinical endpoints to optimize organ viability. Oversees the placement, surgical recovery, preservation, and transportation of organs. Assumes responsibility for the allocation of organs imported to the donor service area (DSA) when requested. Requires flexible hours with on-call responsibilities, travel within the service area, and working for extended periods of up to 24 hours. As a team member, the OPC actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Based on availability, a company vehicle may be assigned to team members in these positions and if assigned must be used at all times for business related purposes. If assigned a vehicle, no mileage reimbursement will be paid. Available company vehicles will be assigned to team members based on business need and location of the team member's home address.

+ Assumes 24-hour on-call responsibility for timely response to organ donor referrals and import organ offers for local transplant centers.
+ Provides family support and requests authorization for organ and tissue donation in a sensitive and compassionate manner.
+ Ensures organs from donors meet CMS, CDC, and OPTN safety standards, including performing required infectious disease tests and accurately labeling and transcribing test results.
+ Directs hospital physicians and nurses in donor evaluation and management according to policies, collaborating with the Medical Director as needed.
Qualifications

+ Physician Assistant (PA) or
+ Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or
+ CERTIFIED PROCUREMENT TRANSPLANT COORD (CPTC) or
+ EMT Certification Basic (EMTB) or
+ EMT Paramedic certification (EMT-P)
