Job Description

The Order Entry Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in managing order and data entry tasks within a pharmacy setting. This position involves handling incoming calls, directing them appropriately, and communicating effectively with long-term care facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians. The technician will receive drug orders through various channels, such as faxes, and address medication-related inquiries. In triage, they will assess patient profiles and decide on order placements, preparing documents by highlighting pertinent information before sending them for order entry. The role requires answering approximately 15-30 calls daily and calling new admissions to long-term care facilities. If an order issue arises, the technician must investigate the problem, understand the workings of the Automatic Dispensing Unit, and ensure accurate resolution. The job involves entering medication orders at a rate of 40-45 per hour, with an expectation of processing 200-300 orders per shift. The role is straightforward, repetitive, and fast-paced, demanding strong memorization skills.

The technician will work in a quiet, office environment that is production-based and repetitive. The role is closed-door and not customer-facing, allowing educated individuals to work in their own cubicle. The schedule is predictable, and the organization is growing. The team is responsible for the front line of the pharmacy, managing all incoming phone calls, faxes, and electronic orders, as well as triaging documents and orders. This is a full-time position with hours on Sunday from 9 AM to 5:30 PM, and Monday to Thursday from 2 PM to 10:30 PM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
