Order Entry - Pharmacy Technician
Job Title: Order Entry Technician Job Description The Order Entry/Customer Service Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in managing order entry and triage tasks within the pharmacy setting. This position involves engaging with calls from various healthcare professionals such as LTC facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians, as well as receiving medication orders through faxes and other communication forms. The technician is responsible for answering inquiries about medications, reviewing patient profiles, and determining the appropriateness of orders. They must efficiently highlight pertinent information on documents and facilitate the order entry process, ensuring accurate and timely medication orders are placed. Responsibilities + Handle incoming calls and direct them appropriately. + Engage with LTC facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians to receive medication orders. + Answer questions regarding medications. + Triage faxes and review patient profiles to determine the validity of placing orders. + Prepare and highlight important information on documents for order entry. + Enter medication orders at a rate of 40-45 orders per hour. + Manage approximately 15-30 calls per day. + Contact all new admissions to LTC facilities. + Investigate issues with orders and understand the functionality of the Automatic Dispensing Unit. Essential Skills + Proficiency in SIG codes. + Certified Pharmacy Technician in Kansas. + Strong customer service skills. + Experience in data entry. + Ability to work with electronic orders and transfer to retail pharmacies. + Experience in customer service roles in Retail or Pharmacy Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
