As a member of the SRE Database Engineering team you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our database systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain robust and efficient infrastructure solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of database system architecture, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for automating processes to enhance operational efficiency.
Role and Responsibilities:
+ Implements enterprise data standards across the portfolio of databases
+ Creates and maintains databases required for development, testing, and production usage
+ Performs ongoing tuning of databases
+ Maintains database schema objects
+ Provides technical support to application development teams
+ Assists with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects
+ Collaborates with security teams to implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
+ Maintains comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and best practices
+ Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and takes corrective actions to improve stability and performance of databases running on production environment
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering or equivalent experience
+ 5+ years of experience in supporting relational databases, primarily Oracle
+ Experienced in any of database replication technologies such as Oracle GoldenGate or Data Guard
+ Advanced knowledge of SQL and scripting languages for database automation tasks
+ Experience in supporting NoSQL databases like Couchbase, MongoDB, Redis, or Cassandra
+ Expertise in database performance tuning and troubleshooting
+ Basic knowledge of UNIX/Linux from a DBA perspective
+ Scripting skills and experience with CI/CD processes and tools
+ Good working knowledge of cloud services, preferably Google Cloud Platform
+ Strong attitude towards teamwork, knowledge sharing, and documentation
Nice to Have Qualifications:
+ Working knowledge of database schema migration tools such as Liquibase or Flyway
+ Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, CloudFormation, Terraform
+ General experience with distributed architecture, high availability systems, and capacity planning
+ Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts can be beneficial for enhancing system automation, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance
