Oracle Database Developer

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of this position is to design, develop, and maintain database solutions that support the full lifecycle of business data. This ranges from Oracle database development to system integrations, secure data exchanges, and infrastructure-level scripting. This role requires hands-on experience with Oracle PL/SQL, Linux bash scripting, API integrations, and managing secure data processes including secure FTP file transfers. The Database Developer will work closely with DBA and Oracle developers to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure data infrastructure. Familiarity with cloud environments, particularly establishing and managing AWS data connections, is highly desirable.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and develop Oracle database objects including tables, views, materialized views, indexes, and stored procedures to structure and stage data for reporting, exports, and downstream integration Write, debug, and optimize PL/SQL scripts to transform and process large volumes of business data Build, schedule, and maintain Linux bash scripts to automate data exports, transformations, validations, and delivery processes Automate file exports and conversions from Oracle databases using custom scripting Monitor and manage FTP/SFTP servers and file processes, including automation for login, transfer, checksum verification, logging, error handling, and archival Develop and maintain REST API connections for pushing and pulling data to/from third-party platforms and internal systems Implement secure API authentication, rate throttling, and resilient error handling for reliable system communication Validate all incoming and outgoing files for data integrity, format compliance, and business rule adherence Create automated checks to verify successful job execution and data completeness Support the Oracle DBA by assisting with backup and recovery operations, job and database status checks, and monitoring logs and performance tuning Provide general support for data movement, schema management, and system maintenance

Works closely with the DBA and Oracle developers Consistent and daily interaction with all of Harmons Technology Associates

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

2 or 4-year college degree in computer science, computer information systems or related field preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

3+ years of experience in a similar data engineering or integration role Strong command of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including performance tuning Experience with Linux shell scripting (bash) and job scheduling (e.g., cron, at) Proficiency managing FTP/SFTP servers, including automation of secure transfers Solid understanding of REST APIs and integration best practices Experience with file-based integrations, including flat files, CSV, XML, or JSON Experience working in environments requiring auditability, data quality assurance, and secure data exchange Exposure to Oracle DBA responsibilities, particularly in backup, recovery, and performance monitoring Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL/ELT pipelines Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability Experience with AWS connections a plus Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening skills to effectively and efficiently communicate with diverse groups of people Ability to appropriately and professionally handle conflict Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized analytical skills and techniques Must have integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a demonstrated passion for Harmons’ mission and commitment to working collaboratively Ability to learn and adapt to new technology Continually strives to be product minded, customer minded, personnel minded, detailed, consistent, and forward focused
