Oracle Database Administrator
**CTG is seeking to fill an Oracle Database Administrator opening for our client in Houston, TX.** **Location:** Houston, TX **Duration:** 10 months **Description:** An Application Database Administrator specializes in managing and maintaining Oracle databases and applications, such as E-Business, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Hyperion, OBIEE, WebLogic, and Retek. Responsibilities include capacity planning, tool management, ongoing tuning, backup and recovery, migrations, security enforcement, and patch management. This role also involves troubleshooting issues, understanding technology relationships, and adhering to best practices for highly available infrastructure, load balancing, application clusters, access management, and application deployment processes. **Duties:** + Manage and maintain Oracle databases and applications (E-Business, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Hyperion, OBIEE, WebLogic, Retek). + Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and patch management. + Support migrations, data conversions, and security enforcement. + Troubleshoot production issues, perform log analysis, and resolve root causes. + Administer WebLogic Server installations, configurations, clustering, patching, and deployments. + Work closely with DevOps teams using Jira, Confluence, and related tools. + Develop SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and optimize database queries. + Implement automation and monitoring within UNIX/Linux environments. **Skills:** + Strong Oracle Application DBA expertise (performance tuning, PL/SQL, data copy). + Proficiency in WebLogic Server administration, clustering, and performance tuning. + Solid SQL development and optimization skills (Oracle/SQL Server/DB2). + Knowledge of JDBC, JMS, JNDI, and security configurations within WebLogic. + Familiarity with DevOps processes, Jira, and Confluence. + Strong troubleshooting, log analysis, and problem-solving abilities. + Experience with UNIX/Linux scripting and automation. **Experience:** + 7–8 years of experience as an Oracle Application DBA. + 6–10 years of hands-on experience as a WebLogic Administrator in enterprise environments. + Proven track record in production support, data conversion, and migration projects. **Education:** + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
