Optics Test Engineer, Consumer Hardware
Minimum qualifications: + Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. + 3 years of experience in coding, developing test methodologies, writing test plans, creating test cases, and debugging. + Experience in testing consumer electronic products for manufacturing. + Experience in optics, display, or camera testing. Preferred qualifications: + Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. + 3 years of experience in specialized testing such as production testing, system integration testing, etc. + Experience in hardware/software debug, failure analysis, hardware testing system bringup and validation. + Experience in mechanical and software test station development and automation. + Experience in color science and display/camera calibration algorithms, image processing algorithms, computer vision algorithms. + Experience with using and calibrating cameras, colorimeters, spectrometers, integrating spheres, and other optical instruments. In this role, you will be in one or all of the following product families: Phones, Laptops, Virtual Reality, Homes, and Devices. You will manage one of the key consumer satisfaction metrics functional performance of Google’s consumer electronic products, specifically focusing on optics/display/camera/computer vision. You will design and develop manufacturing test solutions to balance engineering and operational priorities. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$174,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Learn more about benefits at Google (https://careers.google.com/benefits/) . + Design, and develop factory test stations with optics/display/camera calibration and test. + Work with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and vendor partners to integrate the full test station including hardware (e.g., display, camera, optics, mechanics) and software (e.g., test scripts, station software, and test algorithms) to multiple factory production lines from New Product Information (NPI) to mass production (MP) stage. + Analyze the build data (e.g., yield, overkill, etc.) to improve the accuracy and stabilize station hardware setup. + Collaborate with the Design/Engineering/Assembly team on functional or assembly specifications for the product and make recommendations to design and test coverage improvement.
