Job Description
We are looking for an energetic and initiative-taking Optical Manufacturing Engineerto lead engineering projects for our location. The ideal candidate will have experience as a manufacturing engineer in the field of optics, crystals, and / or lasers manufacturing.
This person will work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision, managing assigned projects, tasks, and schedules.
Responsibilities include:
+ Develop manufacturing process of an optical component utilizing existing equipment and technologies or suggesting new cost-efficient approach.
+ Design tools and fixtures to improve or streamline manufacturing process.
+ Defining best technical solutions to mitigate the human factor influences of the process.
+ Troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis for prototype units through the development of the production process.
+ Troubleshoot and root cause failure analysis of equipment on the production floor.
+ Mentoring, training, and directing team members, junior engineers, and technicians as needed
+ Establishing and nurturing relationships with key personnel as needed and become an in-house expert in your area of work.
+ Creating and maintaining project documentation and communicating information at project status meetings.
+ Creating MSP's and WI to describe the develop process, and able to train technicians on it.
+ Have a good understanding optical manufacturing processes, included metrology and inspection steps needed to make sure that the developed process is correct.
Experience and Education
+ Typically requires a minimum of 7 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 5 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience in manufacturing engineering or equivalent, preferably in optics or lasers.
+ Or 15 years' overall work experience in optics, fabrication, or relevant area of photonics in an industrial production environment.
+ Knowledge of fabrication and polishing of the optical components. Knowledge of crystal fabrication a +
+ Hands on experience in optical shop
+ CNC programming.
+ Utilizing microscopes, interferometers, X-ray machines, and laser measurement setup.
+ Basic knowledge and experience in project management, ability to work with minimum supervision.
+ OneNote, Microsoft Office, Oracle, or similar software
+ SolidWorks design a +
+ Six Sigma, C-Lean, and 5S knowledge necessary.
