We are looking for an **Optical Engineer** to join our optics team!

**Your New Challenge**
Our development department within Optics Systems Defense is growing and now seeking reinforcements to continue evolving and maintaining our leadership. If you want to work for and be part of a market-leading company in the design of lens systems for our cooled and uncooled IR cameras—used in driving cameras, sights, reconnaissance, and surveillance—then you are the right person for us!
To optimize the systems, deep knowledge of optics and radiation physics is required, along with the ability to apply this knowledge in practice. We are now looking for someone to help us maintain and expand our optical expertise to meet future project expectations. You will have the opportunity to follow the entire development process from idea to functioning instrument, and we hope you are also willing to take part in the operational aspects of the role.
**The work will primarily consist of:**
+ Designing and calculating lenses for our IR cameras
+ Simulating and evaluating optical systems and system performance
+ Designing optical measurement methods and test benches
+ Creating technical specifications and verification methods for optics
+ Interact with our optics manufacturing facility to ensure that our lenses are made to the highest quality and performance
In this role, it is important that you are independent but also work well in a team, as most of our development takes place in various exciting and challenging projects. Collaboration in these projects will be with our skilled mechanical engineers, detector experts, and image processors. The role also includes providing technical support to our lens production, which is part of Optics Systems Defense.
**Who You Are Today**
You should have an academic degree, preferably with a research background in engineering physics or a similar field, and at least one or a few years of professional experience in geometric optics and lens design. If you are socially skilled and can leverage that in our broad network across the company—especially with our development units in the USA—you are the right person for us. We value analytical thinking, but also a well-developed practical ability to conduct experiments and measurements. You should also have good proficiency in both Swedish and English, spoken and written.
**Security** **Clearance**
+ Defense Industry Standards: Due to the high-security demands of the defense industry, you will need to undergo a background check.
+ You need to be able to work in Sweden.
+ This position requires access to export-controlled information or items (i.e., regulated technology or technical data per ITAR/EAR US regulations). Applicants must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
+ We prefer applicants who are okay with working on-site from the office in Arninge/Täby.
