OPS PARK ATTENDANT State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection This position is located in Dunnellon, FL Position Overview and Responsibilities: Responsible for greeting visitors at the park entrance and providing information pertaining to the park and park activities involving tubing, canoe and kayaking, swimming and picnicking. Informing visitors of the park rules and providing directions. Collect fees for park entrance and annual passes. Operate a point-of-sale cash register; accurately collect, record and reconcile revenue collected. Maintain an organized workspace, answer phones and operate radio equipment. Complete and reconcile receipts and reports. Cleaning of the inside of the ranger station, including the staff restroom. VISITOR SERVICES/VISITOR EDUCATION: Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions. Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations. MAINTENANCE: Maintains cleanliness of grounds, parking areas, facilities and restrooms. Performs related work as required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: KNOWLEDGE OF: Good public relations Basic arithmetic SKILL IN: Providing good customer service Be able to fill in short reports and timesheets Basic computer skills Interest in providing top-notch visitor services through the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and high-Quality visitor contact experiences ABILITY TO: Follow verbal and written instructions Communicate effectively verbally and in writing Stand for long periods of time Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Accurately prepare and reconcile reports Collect fees, operate cash registers, point-of-sale systems and credit card terminals Deal with visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner Understand and apply rules, directives, policies, laws and regulations Work rotating shifts, including holidays, and weekends Operate computers, using Microsoft Suite Minimum Qualifications: Valid Driver’s License Position of Special Trust Requirement: This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in operating advanced point of sale system. Pay: $15.00 per hour This position is up to 29hrs a week and does not qualify for benefits.
