Minimum of 10 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is required. Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT) through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology is required. Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records and medical terminology is desirable. This classification requires Primary Source Verification.Intermediate Level
5 years' experience as an Ophthalmic TechnicianCertification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in OphthalmologyRespectful and compassionate attitudeAble to maintain confidentiality and follow all guidelines for documentation.Collaborative and collegial, demonstrates integrityOrganized, able to maintain and coordinate multiple items. Successful completion of Michigan Medicine's 12-week training program is required or some experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is required.Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology is required within one year of employment.Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records and medical terminology is desirable.This classification requires Primary Source Verification. Background ScreeningMichigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
