At Retina & Vitreous of Texas, our retina specialists realize that medicine is multi-faceted and focus on providing the best personalized treatment to our patients and do so with state-of-the-art technology in a compassionate and attentive environment. Our physicians are board certified ophthalmologists by the American board of Ophthalmology and completed an additional two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship in diseases of the retina, macular, and vitreous. With six MD's and eleven offices in the Houston, TX area we have an ongoing mission to always deliver the best possible care.

Position Summary

We are now hiring for an Ophthalmic technician that will support a high-volume ophthalmic practice that focuses on providing quality and compassionate care to each patient needing complete eye care services.

Responsibilities

This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision-making.

 

Ophthalmic skills include:

Obtaining and documenting patient medical and ophthalmic historyPerforming all elements of patient work up; VA, IOP, confrontational VF, Motility, PupilsAdministering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physicianPerforming office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR providing patient servicesAssisting physician and facilitate clinics as needed.Consenting and preping patient for proceduresMaintaining rooms stocked with suppliesSupply inventory countsMaintaining equipment and instruments Qualifications

• 2 to 3 years of ophthalmic or ophthalmic technician experience preferred

• COA preferred

• Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required

• Must be flexible with traveling to various locations.

• Ability to pay attention to detail

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable

• The ability to recognize inconsistencies

  Basic knowledge on OCT imaging

Education/Certifications:

• Graduation from an accredited high school
