Job Description
An Ophthalmic Technician assists ophthalmologists in delivering eye care by performing various clinical and administrative tasks. They are responsible for taking patient histories, conducting diagnostic tests, and maintaining equipment.
ResponsibilitiesTake patient histories and document medical information accurately.Conduct diagnostic tests to assist in the evaluation of patients' visual health.Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment to ensure proper functionality.Ensure patient charts are updated and organized.Provide patient care in a high-paced environment with upwards of 100 patients a day.Essential SkillsProficiency in ophthalmology and patient care.Ability to perform diagnostic testing efficiently.Skill in managing patient charts and medical documentation.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required.Certification not necessary, but COA and COT are advantageous.Experience with camera systems or Nextemp technology is a plus.Positive attitude and ability to adapt in a dynamic work setting.Work Environment
The work environment is fast-paced, with multiple providers seeing upwards of 100 patients a day. The Ophthalmic Technician must be willing to work at all three locations, including Waterford and Guilford, with schedules provided one week in advance.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
