Description
We are looking for a Wastewater Plant Operator Trainee to help treat and clean wastewater safely and efficiently. In this job, you will learn how to operate plant equipment, test water samples, and make sure the treated water meets all safety rules. You’ll help protect public health and the environment by making sure wastewater is cleaned properly before it is released or reused.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ As a trainee, you will:
+ Learn how to treat wastewater using pumps, filters, tanks, and other equipment.
+ Test samples of wastewater and treated water to check for chemicals, bacteria, and other materials.
+ Help control the treatment process to meet safety and environmental standards.
+ Record test results and log daily operations.
+ Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and plant buildings.
+ Follow all safety rules and state or federal wastewater regulations.
+ Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.
Education, Experience, Licensing
Minimum Requirements:
+ High school diploma or GED, or similar experience.
+ A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
+ Willing to learn and follow directions.
+ Able to work safely around water, chemicals, and machines.
Preferred Experience:
+ At least 6 months of experience in wastewater or a similar job is helpful (but not required).
Required Training & Certification (Provided on the Job):
You must complete these steps after hiring:
+ Sacramento Course Volume One – within 6 months.
+ Sacramento Course Volume Two – within 12 months.
+ Class C Wastewater Operator Training Course – within 1 year.
+ State Wastewater Operator Exam (minimum 50% score) – within 18 months.
+ Class C Wastewater Operator License (State Certified) – within 2 years.
Supplemental Information
Work Hours:
+ This is a full-time job (40 hours per week).
+ You must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
+ The wastewater plant runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Skills You Will Learn or Use:
+ How to run wastewater treatment equipment.
+ Basic math to adjust chemical levels.
+ How to do general plant maintenance.
+ How to safely handle lab supplies and tools.
+ Clear communication and teamwork.
