Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

Job Description

As our Operator Gr1 (Hauling) of your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Follow SHE standards and specific legislation related to vehicle control.Adhere, read, and sign all appropriate work instructions and standards.Attend Safety meetings with the supervisor and team and ensure adherence to all safety protocols.Effectively identify hazards and safety deviations in the area of responsibility.Apply SLAM/HIRA/Mini HIRA correctly and report any safety or health-related issues.Take all necessary safety precautions when working on auxiliary equipment.Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.Performance and DeliveryEquipment OperationsOperate and control equipment and vehicles safely to transport materials, components, and equipment as instructed, ensuring compliance with procedures, specifications, requirements, timeframes, and budgetary limits.Communicate with mine personnel to coordinate and ensure safe operations.Prepare and load production areas according to operational plans.Equipment InspectionConduct thorough pre-shift and walk-around inspections to ensure equipment functionality and safety, complying with regulations and prescribed standards to prevent damage, injury, or financial loss.Report deviations or defects in equipment and components to the supervisor to ensure timely remedial actions.AssistanceProvide support to supervisors and co-workers within your area of competence or, when delegated, adhere to company policies to achieve functional objectives.HousekeepingClean equipment and machinery after use according to prescribed standards.Perform cleaning activities beyond allocated areas as required.Maintain the cleanliness of safety signs and equipment to ensure visibility and functionality.Equipment Maintenance and ValidationReport maintenance requirements to the supervisor promptly to ensure timely remedial actions and optimal equipment performance.Ensure operating conditions and environments comply with supplier specifications and quality system requirements to prevent deviations or equipment damage. Report any non-conformances for corrective action.Prepare equipment for maintenance during breakdowns or shutdowns to minimise production impacts.ComplianceAdhere to Anglo American compliance requirements and promote team compliance.Conduct site inspections to identify non-compliance issues and escalate them as required.Implement corrective actions to address non-compliance and maintain regulatory adherence.

This role is in Mining (MIN) department on a band P5 level reporting to the Supervisor

QualificationsGrade 12/N3 TechnicalSA Drivers LicenceKumba Dover CertificateFitness CertificatePrimary Haul TruckRelevant HME LicencesCompetency A (advantageous)

 

Technical Knowledge

1-2 years of relevant experience in hauling in a mining environment.Proficiency in operating earthmoving equipment.Familiarity with various types of equipment and tools.Competence in radio communication procedures.Ability to perform shift inspections according to procedures.Proficiency in lock-out procedures for equipment maintenance.Familiarity with the layout of the work section.Understanding of mining equipment and its operation.Adherence to safety standards in the workplace.Capability to identify and solve problems related to equipment and tools.Knowledge of company policies and procedures.Understand safety, health, and environment, as well as legislative, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
